Noyo Harbor French
Noyo Harbor French
Distinctively smoky flavor with hints of jammy fruit, roasted nuts and baker's chocolate. This is our signature Organic French Roast blend, featuring coffees from Central America, South America and Indonesia.
Customer Review
Really good
Coffee came to me reasonably fresh (days from roasting) and tastes really really rich, not bitter, from dark and slightly oily beans. Used a percolation/immersion pour-over method. Frankly a superb coffee. Will order this periodically.
Very disappointing
Thought the brand would be a safe bet due to high ratings from a coffee review website. Although smooth, and drinkable when mixed with my long-time favorites from other brands, this seemed stale or simply underwhelming in taste. Tried both coarse and fine grind. Same review for another blend I ordered at the same time. I like bold, fresh, aromatic, full-bodied complex dark roasts. This wasn't it. I hoped that at least one of them would be a winner. Were they stale?...
Packs a punch!
Wow, this knocked my socks off! If you're looking for something that has a caffeine punch this is your coffee! Very rich and full taste. Really enjoyable cup that will sake you up...and then some.
A must for lovers of very dark French roast coffee
Noyo Harbor French has long been my favorite Very Dark Roast Thanksgiving coffee. I have been a customer since the late 70's, and while ALL of the coffees I've tried over the years are excellent, this one has remained my number one first thing in the morning "gotta have it" cup! If you love dark french roast coffee, this one is for you - you will not be disappointed.
Coffee to Water Ratio
Using the correct amount of coffee will ensure that your coffee is brewed to strength, without over-extracting or under-extracting the coffee to compensate for an inappropriate dose. We recommend 2 grams of coffee for every fluid ounce of water used to brew. Weighing coffee is the most accurate way to measure the appropriate dose. If a scale is not available, we recommend 2 heaping tablespoons of ground coffee for every 5 ounces of water used to brew.
Grind Size
Producing the correct particle size in ground coffee is one of the most important steps in coffee brewing. In general, a finer grind will produce a more intense brew and a coarser grind will produce a less intense brew. At the same time, a grind that is too fine will produce an over-extracted, astringent brew, and a grind that is too coarse will produce a weak, under-extracted brew lacking flavor. In pour-over methods, grind size also affects the rate of extraction, as water will pass more slowly through a finer grind, and more quickly through a coarser grind. We strongly recommend burr grinders over blade grinders.
Water Temperature and Quality
Water temperature dramatically affects the extraction of coffee’s flavor during brewing. We recommend brewing with water at 200-202° Fahrenheit for best results. Using fresh, clean, chlorine-free water is essential.
