Northern Italian Style Espresso

Northern Italian Style Espresso

1850

We have worked on this blend for decades, and the result gives floral notes intertwined with the heavy body to make a very complex, excellent espresso. The currant comes through in the finish along with a spicy fragrance. There are coffees from Central and South America and Indonesia in this blend, which is specially formulated for rich crema (coffee foam). The result of a properly pulled espresso using this blend is a delightfully smooth espresso, not at all toasty or burnt-like, but intense enough to show up and vote in a latte or cappuccino.

Best Espresso!!

I have lost track of how many 5lb bags of this roast I have ordered for my espresso machine! This one has such a smooth and rich taste. About to order another bag! Cheers!

Versatile Roast

Give this bean a rough grind for a delicious pour over or smash it in your press. Either way, it delivers a solid full-pallet experience with a pleasant finish. Cheers!

What’s not to like?

Have you ever gone to bed and anxiously look forward to morning, besides Christmas of course? That’s how I feel about looking forward to a double espresso of Northern roast. So smooth, it tastes like more!

Espresso Perfect!

I ordered this coffee especially for making Americano's and lattes. My first Americano was fantastic! I tried a double shot of espresso and it was very good with nice crema! I will order this one again - dark roast chocolate taste!

Best Latte EVER

This makes the best tasting latte I’ve ever had in my life. Even when you brew it as a pot of coffee, it makes the best tasting cup of coffee I’ve ever had the opportunity to have. All coffee sold by Thanksgiving is amazing but this is by far my favorite. Thanks for offering such a quality product.

Coffee to Water Ratio

Using the correct amount of coffee will ensure that your coffee is brewed to strength, without over-extracting or under-extracting the coffee to compensate for an inappropriate dose. We recommend 2 grams of coffee for every fluid ounce of water used to brew. Weighing coffee is the most accurate way to measure the appropriate dose. If a scale is not available, we recommend 2 heaping tablespoons of ground coffee for every 5 ounces of water used to brew.

Grind Size

Producing the correct particle size in ground coffee is one of the most important steps in coffee brewing. In general, a finer grind will produce a more intense brew and a coarser grind will produce a less intense brew. At the same time, a grind that is too fine will produce an over-extracted, astringent brew, and a grind that is too coarse will produce a weak, under-extracted brew lacking flavor. In pour-over methods, grind size also affects the rate of extraction, as water will pass more slowly through a finer grind, and more quickly through a coarser grind. We strongly recommend burr grinders over blade grinders.

Water Temperature and Quality

Water temperature dramatically affects the extraction of coffee’s flavor during brewing. We recommend brewing with water at 200-202° Fahrenheit for best results. Using fresh, clean, chlorine-free water is essential.
